FINANCIAL CLOSE ACHIEVED: STAR AMERICA HAS REACHED FINANCIAL CLOSE ON THE DIGITAL CROSSROADS DATA CENTER

January 11, 2019

(NEW YORK, NY) – Star America Infrastructure Partners, LLC announces it has reached financial close on the Digital Crossroads Data Center in Hammond, Indiana alongside the City of Hammond, and Indiana NAP. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr., and other dignitaries were at a ceremonial groundbreaking in August 2018. Governor Holcomb described it as “a huge win for the Region.”

Digital Crossroads at Lake Michigan, is a mission critical data center complex currently under construction and is located on the site of the former State Line Generating Facility, situated on the Illinois / Indiana border, 12 miles from downtown Chicago along Hammond’s Lake Michigan shoreline. The asset is set to be a high-capacity, energy efficient, state-of-the-art data center campus.

“The Digital Crossroads team was successful in identifying and securing an ideal site for the development of a new data center,” said William Marino, CEO of Star America Infrastructure Partners, “Star America is excited to support a promising data center project in the Chicago area with strong operational advantages and major political support. We believe the combination of a strong development team, great site selection and local support will provide an attractive option for customers.”

The Digital Crossroads Data Center consists of a multi-phased development plan including an estimated power capacity of up to 40MW and rental space of up to 400,000 sq. ft. The project will be tied into an adjacent fiber network with a direct connection into the Chicago downtown area and further optional connectivity to other hubs. The data center offers capacity in a tight market and provides reduced latency in comparison to other suburban markets such as Aurora, IL.

“We are excited to partner with Indiana NAP to co-develop this project,” said Christophe Petit, President of Star America Infrastructure Partners, “our team is committed to delivering a new state-of-the-art data center that will create a new solution for customers accessing the Chicago market as well as creating new jobs in the State of Indiana.”

Construction began in the third quarter 2018 and is expected to finish in the third quarter 2019. The company press release can be found here.
